This is a sheet of 35 x 1 inch circles (rinchies) based on the circa 1900 hand-drawn work of Ernst Heinrich Philipp August Haeckel, He was a German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor and artist who discovered, described and named thousands of new species, mapped a genealogical tree relating all life forms, and coined many terms in biology, including anthropogeny, ecology, phylum, phylogeny, stem cell, and the kingdom Protista.
The glorious black and white monochrome images in this selection have great detailing. Most of the circles are symmetrical (within the bounds of the hand-drawn nature of the work, which I think adds to their beauty) while several others are not quite regular circles but are more like spirals.
I loved putting these together. There’s something about the circles/spirals, the fantastic textures and contrasts between dark and light, and the fact that these are based on the natural world, that just makes these pieces.
This sheet is available as a high quality 300dpi JPG file to purchase directly from Etsy.
